Source Types and Sources

this document details how to set up and use sources to track where candidates are applying from overview sources describe where a candidate was introduced to your organization by job consideration (each application has a unique source) ashby's default source types are inbound, internal, referral, and sourced you have the option to create new top level source types or sources beneath them source types are helpful for grouping sources in reports once set up, you'll be able to link sources to candidates, custom tracking links and api keys you can access sources by going to admin > organization setup > https //app ashbyhq com/admin/organizational settings/sources permissions access to create sources and source types see the table below for information on the roles that have access to create source types and sources access role has access? limited access ❌ agency users ❌ elevated access external recruiter (not linked to an agency) ❌ elevated access analyst ❌ elevated access hiring team member ❌ elevated access hiring manager ❌ elevated access admin ❌ elevated access admin private ❌ organization admin ✅ only organization admins have access to this feature by default elevated access users can be given access to create candidate sources and source types if needed more on this at docid\ mhy0txb4sxnqye9xkvn8e add source types and sources to create a source type like the default inbound and internal types, click the purple + new source type button to add a source, click the + new source button add and view sources on a candidate profile you can manually add and view sources in the attribution section in the activities & progress section of a candidate profile to add or update a source, click the field and select the source from the dropdown menu if you can't see the one you want, start typing the source name and it will populate add a source to a custom tracking link you can read more on setting up custom tracking links at docid\ xhgtzhhc5az2c48vkii8h you can add sources to custom tracking links to automatically apply a source from an external job board navigate to https //app ashbyhq com/admin/custom tracked links , set up a {{custom tracking link}} , and include the source in the appropriate field add a source to an api key you can read more on setting up api keys at docid\ bd5me2tcmtyhk vujlhdz you can also add a source to an api key navigate to https //app ashbyhq com/admin/api/keys , and create an api key once set up, click on the key to view the details and add the source in the default source field merging sources please note that merging sources cannot be undone if you have multiple similar sources and you would like to set these as a single source, you can merge sources click the merge button, then select your from source and your to source before clicking merge the from source will be merged into the to source and all candidates and job considerations with the from source applied to them will have the to source associated with them moving forward the from source will then be archived archiving & restoring sources and source types to archive a source or source type, click on the source in question on the https //app ashbyhq com/admin/organizational settings/sources page, then click archive if you archive a source, you will no longer be able to link it to candidates, but existing assignments are preserved if you’d like to restore a source or source type, click the active filter and switch it to all you will now see all sources and source types listed, including those that have been archived select the source or source type you’d like to restore, then click restore please note that you cannot restore a source if the source type is archived you would need to restore the source type first, then the source faq ca n i archive a source with a default tag on it? the following default sources cannot be archived currently referral referral link applied chrome extension recruiting event internal transfer these sources also can’t be set as the from source when merging sources (as the from source is archived after the merge) other default sources can be archived
