## Overview

With the OAuth setup route, each user would be required to authenticate Ashby’s access. To do this, instruct each user who needs to authenticate access to do the following:

- Hover over their name and company in the top-right corner of Ashby
- Click `Personal Settings`, then navigate to `Google Workspace Settings`
- Click `Connect with Google`
- If you allow users to determine their own scopes as part of OAuth, they will also see a `Customize Permissions Before Connecting` option. This can be used if users need to review and adjust the permissions being granted before connecting.

Please confirm with users the permissions they need to grant if they need to be customized. Without specific permissions, certain areas of Ashby will become non-functional.

## Adding Ashby as a Trusted App

:::hint{type="danger"}
This is uncommon: If your Workspace Admin has enabled one of Google’s [strict third-party app controls](https://support.google.com/a/answer/7281227), e.g. "Don't allow users to access any third-party apps", you will need to add Ashby to your list of trusted apps. Most Workspaces don't require this, so only do this setup if you have issues connecting your Google account to Ashby.
:::

To get started, visit [App Access Control](https://admin.google.com/u/2/ac/owl/list?tab=apps), then open the Configure New App dropdown and select OAuth App Name Or Client ID.

Search for Ashby’s OAuth app by name:

Check the box for the client ID beginning with `12916233634-j4itegf` and click `Select`.

Finally, choose Trusted: Can access all Google services and click `Configure`.

### Confirm successful setup

You should see that Ashby has been added as Trusted in the Access column.

:::hint{type="warning"}
If this isn't completed successfully, users will see a [warning](https://cdn.zappy.app/6855709f8555c6641390db7f6bfc3d2d.png) that Google hasn't verified this app.
:::

:::hint{type="success"}
Once this setup is completed, we recommend setting up a shared calendar for scheduling as a next step. More on this [here](docId:9nUSHnd_uiv8wIGz-YpaM).

## FAQ

:::ExpandableHeading
### Users aren't seeing the Google Workspace Settings section within their Personal Settings - why?

If users do not see the Google Workspace Settings option within Personal Settings and you’d like to set up OAuth, please let support\@ashbyhq.com know, as we will need to enable this feature.

:::

:::ExpandableHeading
### I clicked on the links in the documentation for the setup page in Google; why won’t it let me log in?

If you aren’t able to log in this indicates you don’t have adequate permissions to setup up the integration. Please ask your Google Workspace Admin to complete this on your behalf.

### Is there a way to see if other users have set up OAuth via their Personal Settings in Ashby?

There isn’t a way to view that in Ashby but this information can be viewed via [Google Workspace OAuth log events](https://support.google.com/a/answer/6124308?fl=1\&sjid=13840174909082112386-NC).

### How do I allow users to determine their own OAuth scopes?

When configuring your general settings within the Google Workspace integration tile, ensure that the `Allow users to select OAuth scopes?` option is checked as part of your setup.

Users will then have the option to customize their permissions before connecting.
