Exporting Reports and Dashboards

This guide gives an overview of the various report and dashboard export options.

Overview

Ashby supports exporting both reports and dashboards. Depending on the report type, different export formats may be available. Some reports support only a PDF export if there is a bespoke graphical format or table summary, and some support raw data export in the CSV format. Dashboards exports are available as PDF and CSV files.

Report export

Export reports directly from a dashboard

When viewing any report from a dashboard, you can click the three dots in the top-right corner of the report, then Go To Report to view the report and export it.

If your dashboard is filtered when you click Go To Report, those dashboard filters will be applied to your report too.

An Export option shows in the top-right corner of the report, underneath the More button.

Exporting a visual report

If your report is a visual report (bar chart, pie chart, etc.), you can export it in PNG, SVG, and PDF formats. You can also include or remove the title from the export and determine the size prior to exporting. Click Export to export the report with your configured settings.

Setting the export file type for the report

You can change the format of the report in the Visualization section of the report. This updates the export.

Export raw data as a CSV

If you are exporting a table report that isn't a passthrough report, clicking the Export button when viewing the report exports it in CSV format. No pop-up appears to configure further settings.

Export passthrough reports

Passthrough reports involve a customized visualization that is available for PDF export only. The CSV export includes the raw data that goes into the passthrough calculation, but given the complexity of the report configuration options, the exact passthrough report results do not easily fit into a CSV format.

When you click Export on a passthrough report, the PDF exports immediately. As with custom list reports, there are no export setting options.

Exports not currently supported

Two report types do not currently support convenient export:

Candidate pipeline template report

Candidate list report

Both of these reports involve custom visual displays in table formats that do not lend themselves to convenient export formats. The same underlying information can be generated through custom lists or other report types.

Dashboard export

Export a dashboard as a PDF, a CSV, or both

Dashboard-level filters apply to the reports included in your PDF, CSV, or combined export.

To export your dashboard:

Navigate to the dashboard you'd like to export within Dashboards > Saved Dashboards.

If you are accessing the dashboard from a pin on your home page, click the Edit button on the dashboard to be taken to the dashboard view that allows you to export.

If you have View Only access to the dashboard, click Go To Dashboard instead.

Click More, then Export.

Determine whether you'd like to export the dashboard as a PDF, CSV, or download both.

If you select CSV, Ashby creates a ZIP file that contains each report as a separate CSV file.

Click Export.

Limitations of a dashboard PDF export: truncated report results

The dashboard PDF export is a visual snapshot of displayed results. This means that some information may be truncated. For example, Candidate Pipeline or Custom List reports often have very lengthy sets of information. Only the data visible in the dashboard's report tile will be included in the dashboard PDF export.
