this document reviews dashboard filters and how to add or remove them from dashboards overview dashboard filters are a powerful feature in ashby that allow you to add or configure filters at the dashboard level that can be quickly applied to all reports on a dashboard they allow you to build dashboards that can be filtered to specific departments, recruiters, etc , without having to copy reports and dashboards an example of a dashboard in which all reports are filtered down to the marketing department an example of a dashboard in which all reports are filtered down to the marketing department tutorial the loom video below will teach you how to use dashboard filters in ashby add a filter and connect it to add a filter, navigate to your dashboard (make sure you are on the dashboard edit view) and click add filter find the field you would like to filter by for filters attached to a user, use the user field you will be able to identify what user role you are filtering for at the report level connect the filter to each of the reports you want the filter to be applied to when you click on the filter icon, you will be prompted to select/search for the field you want to attach the filter to pay attention to the subject the filter is anchored on for example, a recruiter at the job level and the job consideration level could be different green all dashboard filters on the dashboard have been applied to the report grey some dashboard filters on the dashboard have been applied to the report red no dashboard filters on the dashboard have been applied to the report if you would like, you can require a filter to be applied to all of the reports on a dashboard to do this, check the box next to require value you will see the alert below if any of the reports are not connected to the required filter dashboard filters are applied in the dashboard view and will not be saved to the underlying reports viewing an underlying report on a dashboard with a filter if you apply filters at the dashboard level, you can click the go to filtered report icon to view the report the unsaved dashboard filters will be applied when viewing the report (but will not be saved to the report automatically) you can click save when viewing the filtered report to add the filter changes to your existing report if you make any changes to the underlying report and save it, these changes will be reflected on the dashboard if you need to get to the underlying report without any dashboard filter context being applied, the action menu on any report tile provides the option (the three dots to the right of the go to filtered report button) to go directly to the report via go to report delete a filter to delete a dashboard filter, select the trash icon next to the filter and click delete faq can i connect a recruiting planner report to a dashboard filter? this isn’t currently possible help! i’m accessing the dashboard from my homepage and don’t have the option to connect filters what’s going on? when accessing the dashboard via the views column on your homepage, be sure to click edit on the dashboard you should then be able to configure dashboard filters can i set my dashboard filter to exclude certain values? you can, yes when you specify a value for your filter, you will see an is dropdown between the filter type and the chosen value you can use the dropdown and select is not to exclude the specified value from your results rather than only show values matching your filter
