You can create an AI-generated summary of a candidate's interaction history from within the Chrome extension. The summary is capped at 150 words, giving you a quick overview.

The candidate interaction history summary covers the following:

- Applications
- Sequences
- Interviews and feedback
- Offers
- Notes on the candidate's profile
- Projects
- Emails and text messages
- Do Not Contact status
- Fraud Signals

The summary places more emphasis on decisions, outcomes, and re-engagement signals. Ashby generates summaries per user and respects the viewing user's permissions, so a user only sees data they are allowed to see.

# Generating a candidate history summary

When viewing the candidate's LinkedIn profile, GitHub profile, or a thread with them in Gmail:

1. Open the Chrome extension.
2. Click `Generate Summary`.

3. Ashby generates an AI summary for review with citations you can hover over and click on. Clicking a citation links to the relevant record in the Ashby app (applications, feedback, sequences, talent projects, notes, text messages). The link goes to the candidate profile when no direct link to a record exists.

4. To generate the summary again, click `Regenerate`.

Ashby caches the summary for one hour, so if you click a citation and are directed away, you don't lose the summary.

# FAQs

### What if a candidate has an extensive history? For example, more than 10 applications?

The AI summary generator only pulls in the most recent 10, but knows the earliest date of each event type. It can't reference specifics of old emails or applications, but can mention "dating back to December 2024," or similar.

### What if the candidate has been added to Ashby but has no history?

When you click `Generate Summary`, Ashby informs you that the candidate doesn't have any history in Ashby.

### What if the candidate is updated?

Ashby doesn't automatically regenerate the summary, but you can regenerate it manually. Ashby removes the summary an hour after the initial generation.

### What happens if the citation's source is deleted or becomes inaccessible after generation?

The link in the citation breaks, but falls back to something reasonable (such as a candidate's profile if the candidate still exists, but a note has been deleted).
